Surgery? Seriously?

I found out on Tuesday evening that I need to have a total hysterectomy before returning to Tanzania.

(Groan.)

I was pretty shocked. I cried when Byron picked me up and I told him about it. I wasn't expecting to need major surgery to deal with my issues. That's because I didn't know I had sizable fibroids and a great big cyst in my life.

At this point I'm nervous, annoyed and a little overwhelmed.

I find that I'm struggling, too, with spikes of fear.

Hospitals make me feel sick. I felt faint having a mammogram today. It's weird, I know.

But I also know that I'm thankful for help, incredible technology, advanced medicine, a concerned family and caring friends.

I'm thankful to God for timing and leading and provision.

I'll hand my fear over to him.

Surgery is set for 13 May. Before that, I'll be here and there in Southern California. After that, find me sitting quietly at Mom and Dad's.

Lisa, so sorry to hear this. I will be praying for you and thinking of you often.

Thanks, Roy. It's not exactly what I was planning on for this time in the States. Still, I know I'm in good hands.

I like how God has told you before that HE is somebody really big. We're expecting him to come through with sweet peace and calm as those fears come.

Thinking and praying for you. Our God is a gracious God and will keep you strong and safe. This one is for you.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.
(Romans 8:28 NLT)
And we certainly know that the Borden family are called to His purpose.

I'm praying that your surgery goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Often these things are unexpected. I was running around with our new puppy and ruptured my Achilles. Surgery to repair it was last Tuesday. My hectic sometimes stressful schedule came to a screeching halt. Besides feeling like a lump, I haven't minded it. It's given me a chance to slow down and breathe.

May God wrap you up in his strong arms as you face this necessity. You didn't mention an expected recovery time but if your surgery is like mine, you may have time to birth another book as you rest. ;-) Isn't it good to know that our time is in God's loving hands?

13 is my lucky number, so I have no doubt May 13th will be a day that God delivers good: a good doctor, good anesthesia and good family time after it's all done and done. Mungu yupo! May His peace blanket you this next week...
