Of an Evening

Yesterday evening I was tired. Yesterday evening I remembered that, oh yes, it's not even 4 months yet since that big surgery that slowed me down. It was a relief, in some ways, to realize there was a reason for the way I was feeling. Even though I've been feeling so much better. Even though I just had an incredibly restful time at the coast.

So I retired early. I took my leave from our little gathering of 3 around the outside fire. I made tea for the night guard and wiped down the kitchen counters and thanked God for hot water as I rinsed the day, the lovely day, off my body.

And from my room I could hear Byron and Heather chatting in the firelight. I liked hearing their voices through my window. How really nice for a young girl and her dad to sit outside and chat. (It's a pleasing change from when they argue!) She said something that made him laugh and laugh. It made me smile as I drifted off.

I should go to bed early more often :-)

Oh, LIsa, how sweet for those two. I'm smiling at the laughter you drifted of to after those four full, full months since May. Did I say full? I personally know they were! You rose to the occasion of being wonderful to all those families in your house, your guest room, your tented yard, your neighbor's house,...oh my, yes you did!
So, rest, my dear, Lisa, rest! Byron & Heather will keep you smiling as they find precious time together. Really, did they have a chance for time together when you were hosting us all? Thinking of you with sweet fond memories of time on that porch. :)

I think everyone worked hard all summer and it was great. Definitely a summer to remember! What a lot of nice people shared time around our fire :-)
