On Sunday afternoon Tammy and I baptized Gabby, a member of our Summer '07 team. Gabrielle Hope grew up in The Netherlands, Portugal, England and the States. We thought it was pretty cool that ever since she was a little girl she had thought of being baptized in Africa some day. This was her first ever trip to Africa and she took the plunge in this beautiful mountain stream surrounded by friends who love her on the final day of her time here. She said her baptism symbolized her declaration, "No turning back." Hurrah!

beautiful pictures and beautiful words. I wish so ,much I could have been there to for Gabby's baptism. And now I'm waiting for my beautiful children to come home. 11 hours to go!
We almost didn't let your kids get on the bus to leave here :-) We're missing them around this place! Carly promised to come back with all of you...
How beautiful! Maybe I'm a little biased, but there is something amazing about being baptized in Africa. To come up out of the water surrounded by God's beautiful creation. What a blessing!
Yea, that stream coming down Mout Meru reminded us so much of the stream below our shared home in Loita. And speaking of, Tenke or Tinke (?) greets you oleng oleng and was so amazed to hear that I'm in touch with you. He sends so much love and greetings to the whole Brock family!
Ummm...is a person allowed to be baptized twice? [cheeky grin] I was baptized at 9 or 10 but I certainly think it would mean more to me now.
The stream in Loita is was my baptismal! I had to sit down so that the water would (almost) cover me when I was laid back.
Tinke, kweli! Lots of fun childhood memories there. We even taught him to play Uno (nabo). That was a kick! Anyway, greet him oleng, oleng in return. You are all in our prayers!

That is the sweetest baptism!
Sacred and holy and simple.
No turning back, indeed.
Carrie, Jesse and Trevor were baptized in that very, very stream as well. I wonder if there is a name in Maasai that you guys share that means "You who were baptized in the same place as me." :-)
