Thoughts for Advent: Day Fourteen

A Poem for Day Fourteen

Is it dark enough
I wonder

Have we drifted
sufficiently
to understand
at last
how thoroughly
we are
lost

And not just lost
but getting more so
Tied to a course
that leads us
nowhere

Each day
I think
It can't possibly 
get worse

And then...
it does

At what point
will we feel
our need

and learn to long
for liberation
